Accessing resources from off campus

Instructions for accessing databases and e-journals for Villanova students, faculty, and staff:

We recommend you first disable the existing proxy configuration set in browser.  Please reboot workstation upon disabling configuration.

1. First you must have the cookies enabled in your browser. Choose your browser from the list below, and set the browser to accept cookies.
 
 
  • Netscape 7.x:
    Click on EDIT > PREFERENCES> PRIVACY & SECURITY (click on arrow to open a menu). Select COOKIES, then choose: ENABLE ALL COOKIES.
  • Internet Explorer 6.x:
    Click on TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS> PRIVACY. Set the privacy slider to Medium or lower. Select ADVANCED for additional cookie control.
  • Internet Explorer 5.x:
    Click on TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS> SECURITY, Select the INTERNET icon and then CUSTOM LEVEL. Under COOKIES, select ENABLE.
  • AOL users click here
  • EZproxy uses cookies to keep track of your session, so that you don't have to log in again to access new resources.
    EZproxy will not work if your browser does not accept cookies.
    These cookies contain only your session key, and expire when you close your browser. No personal information is stored by EZproxy.

2. Under the Research section, you can choose a database from one of the following pages:

EZproxy prompts you to log in using your University Standard Authentication Password. [VU email User ID and password]

After entering your User Id and password, you will be connected to the database or e-journal you selected.

If all else fails please use the University's Secure Gateway. This gateway allows a Villanova user to log in and access services as if he/she is on campus.
