On Mergent, you can also access the 10K reports filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) which contain management discussion in PDF format which is nicer to read than that found on the SEC EDGAR web site. ABI Inform and Lexis-Nexis are good sources for financial news about companies. Limit your search to the "company/organization" field and combine it with terms such as "accounting or financial or earnings" ect.
