Criminal Justice Question

My topic/proposition is: "focused, Problem-Oriented Policing programs that involve partnerships and utilize a range of strategies can reduce serious crime." Basically, the major part of the paper will cover the effectiveness of problem-oriented policing (aka community policing) in reducing crime.

The best resources/indexes for your topic are Criminal Justice Abstracts and Sociological Abstracts. Links to both of these resources can be fund on the Criminal Justice Resources web site:
    http://subjects.library.villanova.edu/Criminal%20Justice
I did a quick search in Criminal Justice Abstracts with the following keywords "community policing" and "crime rates"
and found a few good articles from peer-reviewed journals. Then I scanned the cited references at the end of one of the articles and checked the Library's catalog to see whether we had these journals. Altogether I found three articles that the Library has electronically and one that the Library has only in print:
    Print:
Cameron, S. (1988) “The economics of crime deterrence: a survey of theory and evidence.” Kyklos, volume 41, pp. 301-323. Print only, call number for Kyklos: H1.A15. Please ask at the information desk for this article. They will get it for you and you can then photocopy it.
I also found a report from the Heritage Foundation that looked very useful for your topic. Please be aware that this is not from a peer-reviewed journal, but it looks scholarly enough to me:
    http://www.heritage.org/Research/Crime/CDA00-10.cfm
I attached one of the articles to this e-mail and will send a second article with the other two articles. PDFs can be very big in size and I am afraid the e-mail will be blocked if I attach all three articles to this e-mail. Please let me know if you need further help.
If you are still on campus you can also ask for help from a librarian at the information desk in the Library. Somebody will be on call until 5 p.m. today. Not on Saturday though.
