University librarian and director of Falvey Memorial Library

Joseph P. Lucia, University Librarian and director of Falvey Memorial Library, was recently elected president of PALINET, one of the largest and oldest regional U.S. library networks, serving 600 institutional members in the mid-Atlantic region. PALINET trains over 1400 people annually through its distance and onsite workshops, provides valuable library services and resources at discounted rates to institutional members through its group-purchasing program and is the region's provider of searching and cataloging services through OCLC. Mr. Lucia has been a member of the PALINET board since 2005.
Mr. Lucia is presently the Vice President / President-Elect, on the PALCI (Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium) Board (2007-2008). PALCI is a membership organization of private and public academic libraries. He has been a member of the PALCI board since 2003.
Mr. Lucia was named University librarian to head Falvey Memorial Library, effective August 2002. The University librarian is a regular contributor to Compass: New Directions at Falvey, the electronic newsletter, in a column entitled "Director's Watch." The newsletter is sent to all members of the University community, students, faculty, staff and administration, and to others with a vital interest in Falvey Memorial Library and the University, our alumni and our friends in the academic community.
